The Youth Journey

A structured framework guiding young people through phases of learning, contribution, and leadership.

Introduction Phase

Ages 10–14 · Discovery

Land walks, legacy story lessons, basic stewardship skills, and introduction to the family archives and history.

Skill-Building Phase

Ages 14–18 · Application

Filming and storytelling, garden and agroforestry work, workshop assistance, and becoming mentors for younger youth.

Leadership Phase

Ages 18–25 · Ownership

Project leadership roles, paid internships and stipends, youth seats in Family Council, and cultural program design.

Annual Red Earth Roots Festival

Our cornerstone event celebrating storytelling, food, land, and intergenerational connection through tours, interviews, and youth showcases.

Quarterly Volunteer Days

Hands-on opportunities for the community to connect with the land through trail work, planting, cleanup, and seasonal projects.

Heritage Week (Summer)

An immersive week of elder-led story circles, youth classes, and cultural arts workshops dedicated to history and heritage.

Elder Interview Program

Structured audio and video recordings preserving life history, land memories, cultural teachings, and stories of hardship and triumph.

Elder-Youth Storytelling Circle

Regular, facilitated events where elders share oral histories and wisdom with younger family and community members.

Year-round educational engagement through field trips, environmental education, and internship opportunities with local schools.
